Level One
Pre-Apprenticeship Brickwork
Learn trowel skills, how to build and repair walls as well as to construct cavity walling, chimneys and various different brickwork techniques.
On completion of the course you will be awarded a Level 1 Diploma in Brickwork, and ACE will support you to complete your CSCS card to work on site.
3 days per week, 6 – 9 month course with progression possible onto an Apprenticeship on completion.
Level Two
Apprenticeship Brickwork
Apprenticeships are a mix of work and learning whilst getting paid a wage. You will work on site for 4 days and attend ACE 1 day per week. The Apprenticeship usually takes 18-24 months to complete.
Learn to build brick and block walls, cavity walls including window and door openings, setting out of structures, laying drains, concreting, health and safety on site, communication and organisational procedures at work, storing and moving materials safely, and understanding information plans and drawings.
You will work towards an NVQ Diploma Level 2 in Bricklaying, Level 2 Diploma in Bricklaying, Functional Skills Level 1 in English and Maths and Employment Rights and Responsibilities.
Level Three
Advanced Apprenticeship Brickwork
This advanced level course is the next step after an Apprenticeship and is aimed at skilled workers and staff members who are likely to take more responsible roles within the company. The Advanced Apprenticeship takes approximately a year to complete.
The course includes setting out and erecting complex masonry structures, Health and Safety, developing and maintaining good working relationships in the workplace, and confirming work methods, activities and resources needed.
You will work towards an NVQ Diploma Level 3 in Trowel Occupations, Level 3 Diploma in Bricklaying and Functional Skills Level 2 in both English and Maths

Earning potential
After training you will have the flexibility in the future to choose either to work for a building firm or set up on your own. On average bricklayers earn £15,000 – £30,000 per year.
