Level 2 Bench joinery apprenticeships to support individuals
Bench joinery is a highly skilled wood occupation that differs from carpentry. A joiner creates the products that a carpenter will fit or repair at a premises, such as doors, window frames, cupboards, cabinets, wardrobes, and stairs. Typically, a joiner will work in a workshop, whereas a carpenter will work onsite.
Aside from physically creating timber structures, bench joiners are also responsible for interpreting technical plans, estimating the materials needed for a job, programming computerised cutting equipment, working to tight production schedules, carrying out quality checks, and reporting to more senior members of staff within the same team or different divisions.

The average bench joiner earns £15,000 – £55,000 per year (uk.jobted.com), and once you’ve gained your qualifications you can either work for a company or become self-employed.

The workshops are big and they create a very realistic working environment that feels safe, with plenty of support and help from the tutors and office team.
Good hand skills are vital and strong hand eye coordination.
At ACE it has been the projects we have done on framework, as I have really enjoyed those. At work and helping fit kitchens it has been putting together and spraying a shelf unit as it is great to see that process through from start to finish.
To learn as much as I can from colleagues, peers and tutors so I can be the best I can. Hopefully this will put me in a good place to be successful and have a business of my own.
This qualification enables you to demonstrate and recognise skills, knowledge and understanding so you can work as a Bench Joiner (also known as an Architectural Joiner) within the construction industry.
This apprenticeship includes learning how to set up and safely operate equipment such as a circular saw; the production of setting out details; and marking out from setting out details for bench joinery products and the manufacture of a range of bench joinery products.
You will work towards an NVQ Diploma Level 2 in Wood Occupations, Level 2 Diploma in Bench Joinery, Functional Skills Level 1 in English and Maths and Employment Rights and Responsibilities.
