rade School is a hands-on education experience session that is delivered free-of-charge in secondary schools by ACE’s delivery partner Wain & Francis Ltd, a Witney-based building firm.  All students are able to build and construct with real site materials under the guidance of working professionals with current up to date site credentials.

Each Trade School experience day covers many aspects of building with links to historical methods, modern methods and technology, maths science, health and safety, PPE, waste management and renewables.

The construction industry has a major skills shortage, not just in Oxfordshire, but across the UK.  This not only means that qualified, experienced tradesmen can command high wage rates, but it also means there is a major need for more young people to regard a career in construction as a serious option.

Trade School is free of charge to any Oxfordshire secondary school (and yes, teachers can take part too!).  It is funded by Oxfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership (OxLEP) as part of Oxfordshire’s City Deal delivery, contributing towards targets to increase and widen participation in Apprenticeships.
